Mae Ethel Olson was born May 28, 1920 in rural Kensington, Minnesota to Olga Henrietta (Torgerson) Forsberg and Edwin Oscar Forsberg. Mae was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Kensington. She attended elementary school and graduated from Kensington, High School. On November 4

, 1939 Mae was united in marriage to Clifford Melvin Olson of rural Farwell at the First Lutheran Church in Kensington.
Mae and Cliff moved to Cyrus in 1939 when they purchased the Cyrus Blacksmith Shop. They were long-term members of Trinity Lutheran Church, which was a very important part of Mae’s life. Mae was a housewife and proud of her Swedish/Norwegian background. She was active in Ladies Aid, Ladies Circle, Funeral Volunteers, Altar Guild and a she was past Church Deacon. Mae was active in the Annual Cyrus Bazaar. Mae generously supported Trinity Lutheran and gave freely of her time and talents. Mae loved Cyrus and her house and her Church. Mae enjoyed reading books and newspapers, baking and sewing. She was an active member of The Son’s of Norway and Landings Laget events which allowed her to study her Norwegian Heritage. After Mae was unable to stay in her home she moved to the Minnewaska Lutheran Nursing Home in Starbuck, Minnesota, where she died peacefully on October 14, 2009 with her sons Rollie and Gene and Jeanette Veum by her side.
Mae is survived by her sons Rollance (Gayle) of Roanoke, Virginia, Eugene (Maureen) of Erie, Colorado, daughter Linda Kading (husband John deceased) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, son-in-law Terry Johnson (wife Louise deceased); two sisters, Olive Lamphere of Seattle, Washington and Margie Olsen of Anoka, Minnesota; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; Mikie and Bill McGill of Worthington, Ohio and children Liam and Caroline. Christopher and Mary of Roanoke, Virgina and their children Emma, Katelyn and Lillie Mae. Jeremy and Tracey Johnson of Blaine, Minnesota. Michelle Olson of Austin, Texas. Heather and Mike Harrington of Missoula, Montana and children Riley and Aiden. Michael Olson of Austin, Texas and children Olivia and Elanor. Andrew and Cassie Kading of Portland, Oregon. Eric Kading and Laura Angelus and baby Blake of Minneapolis. Mae is survived by many, many friends, including her good friend Jeanette Veum.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Louise Johnson of Anoka, sisters Eleanor Gunderson, Evelyn Pappas, Irene Lofquist, Brother Edgar Forsberg and son-in-law John Kading.
