Mae Waller

Eileen Mae Corcoran, daughter of Timothy and Charlotte (Cunningham) Corcoran, was born February 12, 1912 in Rolfe, Iowa, where she was baptized on February 26, 1912 by J.M. Mallinger. Mae grew up in Donnelly, where she received her schooling. On November 24, 1931, she was united in marriage to Hiram Waller in Donnelly, Minnesota. Following their marriage, Mae and Hiram owned and operated a restaurant in Donnelly for nine years. Mae then went to the Donnelly Co-op Grocery Store, where she served as manager for several years. Mae and Hiram then moved to Morris, where Mae worked for Johnson Drug for the next 29 years. Hiram died on May 18, 1975. Mae continued to live in Morris until the time of her death.




She was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church in Morris, where she served on various committees over the years. She was also a member of the Morris Eagles, VFW and the Legion Club. She enjoyed playing cards and dancing. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends.




Mae died on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at West Wind Village in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 96 years.




She is survived by two sons: Merle (Betty) Waller of Joliet, IL and Rolly (Faye) Waller of Bensenville, IL; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and siblings: Frances, Bud, Helen, Ed and Pat. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and siblings: Bonnie, Caroline, Louella, Lester, Donald, Robert and LeRoy.




Serving as pallbearers for the funeral are Mae’s entire family. Linda Hodgson will serve as pianist for the service with Ken Hodgson serving as soloist/songleader. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Wind Village in Morris or the Morris Senior Citizen Center.
