Mamie Pauline Henricks, daughter of John and Alma (Olson) Henricks, was born February 8, 1920 in Rendsville Township in Stevens County, Minnesota, where she grew up and received her schooling. On April 11, 1939, she was united in marriage to Orval "Shorty" Waller. In 1942, the couple moved to California to work in the shipyards, where Mamie was a welder. Following the war, the couple returned to Donnelly, where they operated a cafAC.. In the late 1940?s, they moved to Morris to operate the Atlantic CafAC. and later ran the Sugar Bowl CafAC. and the Arcade CafAC. and finally operating the Shell CafAC.. After retiring from the restaurant business, Shorty and Mamie continue to live in Morris. Shorty died on June 14, 1990. The last few years, Mamie has been a resident of the West Wind Village.
Mamie was a member of First Lutheran Church in Morris and a former member of Kongsvinger Lutheran Church in Donnelly. She was also a member of the Morris American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries. She was a past member of the Morris Eagles.
Mamie died on Monday, December 25, 2006 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 86 years.
She is survived by one son: Gary (Sharon) Waller of Ramsey; one daughter: LaVonne (Tom) Cress of Isile; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two sisters: Juliet (Bud) Bannister of Donnelly and Pearl Anderson of Donnelly. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; seven brothers and two sisters.
Pallbearers for the service are: Don Plocker, Scott Heinrich, Dennis Melchert, Pat Johnson, Darren Schultz, Shawn Johnson and Luke Fontana. Bonnie Gulbrandson will serve as organist for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is handling the arrangements.
