Funeral services for Marcella Hottovy of Morris, MN will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Father Peter VanderWeyst will be officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 and a Christian Mothers Rosary to follow at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Morris.
Marcella Alice Hraban, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Krenk) Hraban, was born August 15, 1928 in Dwight, Nebraska, where she was baptized at Assumption Church. Marcella was confirmed at St. Wenceslaus in Bee, Nebraska. When she was a toddler her family moved to Ulysses, Nebraska and later to Bee, Nebraska. Marcella attended school in Seward, Nebraska, graduating from Seward High School. She continued her education at Concordia College in Seward. Following her schooling, she taught Kindergarten thru 3rd grade in Bee, Nebraska. On October 6, 1949, she was united in marriage to Raymond Hottovy in Bee, Nebraska. Marcella stopped teaching after she was married so she could become a homemaker and mother. Before retiring, she cared for various elderly in their homes throughout the Morris area.
Marcella was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morris and the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. She enjoyed reading, cooking and spending time with her family. Marcella had a special gift for taking care of people, especially her children and grandchildren.
Marcella died on Friday, February 18, 2011 at her home in Morris. She lived to reach the age of 82 years.
She is survived by her husband: Raymond Hottovy; seven children: Ron Hottovy of Morris, Mel Hottovy of Morris, Judy (Dave) Marty of Andover, Cindy (Steve) Poppe of Morris, Jeff Hottovy of Morris, Jackie (Robert) Yehle of Coon Rapids and Todd (Elizabeth) Hottovy of Morris; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters: Genevieve Woodruff of Hackensack and Irene (Fritz) Hotovy of Seward, NE; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Bernice Vondra and Mary Hubert and three brothers: Raymond, Raphiel and Joseph Hraban.
Serving as pallbearers for the service are Marcella's grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Kyle Marty, Shelley Marty, Stacy Marty, Corey Poppe, Kris Poppe, Brandon Yehle, Kalley Hottovy, Bailey Hottovy, Lauren Hottovy, Jayde Rasmussen, Mariah Marty and Makayla Marty. Honorary pallbearers are all who called Marcella friend. Linda Hodgson will serve as pianist, with Ken Hodgson serving as soloist.
