Marian Raasch

Funeral services for Marian Raasch of Morris will be held Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Federated Church in Morris. Reverend Jennifer Amy-Dressler will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris.
Marian Frances Winter, daughter of Benjamin and Maty (Christenson) Winter, was born October 8, 1916 in Morris, MN, where she grew up and attended school. Following her schooling, Marian cleaned houses in the Morris area. On August 12, 1936, she was united in marriage to Leslie Raasch. The couple made their home in Morris, where they raised their children. Marian also took care of grandpa Karl Raasch for several years. Marian was very family focused, she loved caring for her family and when Les was sick, she took care of him. She hosted all the family holidays, doing most of the work herself. She was an awesome cook and baker, making donuts, apple pies and bread. She also did a lot of canning. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery and bird watching. Marian was an avid sports fan, high school and professional. She loved attending all of her children's sporting events. She liked taking care of her goose hunters, especially Bill Petersen. Marian was a very independent and hard working lady. Les died on July 19, 2003 and Marian continued to live in Morris since that time.
Marian died on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar, Minnesota, having lived to reach the age of 95 years.
She is survived by four sons: Gary (Sally) Raasch of Shakopee, Dick (Connie) Raasch of Alexandria, Ron (Kathy) Raasch of New Haven, MO and Don (Sylvia) Raasch of New London; one daughter: Sandy (Dan) Haugen of Willmar; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister: Joanne (Clifford) VanVickle of Kensington; two sisters-in-law: Bernice Winter of Alexandria and Evie Raasch of Morris and one brother-in-law: Art Raasch of Oregon. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers: Glen and Bee and two sisters: Jean and Phyllis.
Pallbearers for the service are: Jeremy Schultz, Erik Raasch, John Raasch, Luke Haugen, Katie Haugen, Tracy Lister, Amy Raasch, Jill Serbay, Molly Contos, Tammy Raasch, Rebecca Joffer, Sara Schulz, Lisa Greninger, Stephanie Schmidt, Jered Haugen and Karla Raasch. Ken and Linda Hodgson will provide special music for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
