Marilyn Johnston

Memorial services for Marilyn Johnston of Starbuck, MN will be held Monday, May 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck. Reverend Paul Johnson will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.

Marilyn Claire DeQuattro, daughter of Ben and Helen (Ward) DeQuattro, was born February 21, 1938 in Lawrence, Massachusetts. At a young age, her family moved to California, where she graduated high school in Pasadena. On June 21, 1958, she was united in marriage to Robert Johnston. In 1969, the couple moved to Starbuck, Minnesota, where Marilyn worked as a cook at the Minnewaska Nursing Home and the Minnewaska Hospital. In 1983, Marilyn continued her education in Willmar, MN, where she graduated as an LPN in 1986. She then began working at the Glenwood Hospital until 2007, when she retired. Robert died on July 8, 2008. Marilyn has continued to make her home in Starbuck until the time of her death.

Marilyn was an active card player and was a member of the Glenwood, Villard and Forada Card Clubs. She played every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights for five years. She also loved to garden and was president of the Starbuck Garden Club for 10+ years.

Marilyn died on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. She lived to reach the age of 75 years.

She is survived by two sons: Greg (Stacey) Johnston of Princeton and Todd (Dawn) Johnston of Crookston; two daughters: Heather DuPont of St. Louis, MO and Bonnie Johnston of St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren: Caitlyn Johnston of Barnsville and Wade and Cole Johnston of Crookston; one brother: Richard (Lena) DeQuattro of Miami, FL; one sister: Claire DeQuattro of Palm Springs, CA and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and one sister: Bobbie Struckhoff.

The Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
