Marilyn Kirwin

January 3, 1936 — January 20, 2013

A memorial mass for Marilyn Kirwin of Glenwood formerly of Morris, will be held on Friday, June 28, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glenwood, MN at 10:30 a.m. A private family burial will be held later at Calvary Cemetery in Morris, MN.

Marilyn passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 20, 2013, after a long and determined battle with cancer.

She was born Marilyn Victoria Sprouls on January 3, 1936 in Alberta, Minnesota to parents Maren Victoria (Veile) and Lee Sprouls. Marilyn fell in love with Darrell Frederick Kirwin and they married December 28, 1957. They settled near family in Morris. The couple was blessed with three children, Steven, Tracy and Patricia.

Marilyn's life's work was invested in family and friends. She cherished life, wanting to make the most of every day. In 1972, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She ultimately won this battle, as she went on to be celebrated as a 40 year breast cancer survivor.

A determined, positive attitude made her an inspiration to many. A love of nature, golf, playing bridge, and traveling define part of Marilyn, but more than anything she loved to be surrounded by her family and friends. Marilyn and Darrell's retirement years were spent divided between Glenwood, MN and Sun City, AZ.

Marilyn leaves behind her husband of 55 years, three children and 13 grandchildren, six siblings and many many dear friends.

The entire family extends their warmest gratitude to the medical staff at the Morris and Alexandria Hospitals, as well as the Mayo Clinics in Minnesota and Arizona for the many years of loving care and support.

Memorials are requested given in Marilyn's name to the American Cancer Society, where she was an active supporter for many years. You can donate online to the following website.
