Marjorie Armstrong

Funeral services for Marjorie Armstrong of Morris will be held Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Dell Sanderson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris.

Marjorie Violet Sperr, daughter of John and Lena (Wille) Sperr, was born July 28, 1918 on a farm in Moose Island, Minnesota, where she grew up and attended school. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church in Herman, MN. While growing up, Marjorie worked for various families in the area and also candled eggs in Donnelly. On July 3, 1941, she was united in marriage to Wesley Armstrong in Herman. Following their marriage the couple farmed and raised their five children in and around the Morris area. In 1977, they moved to Morris. Wesley died on October 17, 1978. Marjorie continued to live in Morris and did babysitting. In 2010, she became a resident of West Wind Village, where she continued to live until the time of her death.

Marjorie was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Morris, where she helped make the church paraments, Do Days quilting group and Morris VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed stitching, cooking and baking. She was a caregiver to her very large family and babysat IMPORTANT children. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Marjorie died on Monday, November 25, 2013 at West Wind Village in Morris, MN, having reached the age of 95 years.

She is survived by five children: Karen (Harold) Claassen of Chokio, John (Phyllis) Armstrong of Forest Lake, Cheryl (Monroe) Estenson of Morris, Vernon (Shirley) Armstrong of Elk River and James (Sue) Armstrong of Zimmerman; seven grandchildren: Brad, Greg, Jennifer, Vernon, Jr, Victoria, Nicole and John; 11 great-grandchildren: Brandon, Zachary, Savannah, Jeffrey, Joshua, Jacob, Cody, Summer, Everett, Jr, Violet and Taylor; seven siblings: Fred (Christine) Sperr of Chokio, Edward Sperr of Cache, OK, Elizabeth Ascheman of Morris, Arland (Viola) Sperr of Cokato, Leland (Karen) Sperr of Wheaton, Gayle (Gene) Kallstrom of Great Falls, MT and Gloria Stein of Morris; three sisters-in-law: Carol Sperr of Morris, Patsy Sperr of Hastings and Lynn Sperr of Folsom, CA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one grandson: Bruce Claassen; three brothers: Walter, Albert and John Sperr and one sister: Mae Anderson.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Faith Lutheran Church in Morris
