Memorial services for Marjorie Mecklenburg of Morris will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Morris, MN. Pastor Elmer Cox will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. A private family burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris.
Marjorie Ellen Koehntop, daughter of Walter and Louise (Abel) Koehntop, was born February 9, 1943 in Morris, Minnesota. Marjorie grew up in Swan Lake Township and began her schooling at District #10. She graduated in 1961 from Cyrus High School. She continued her education at St. Cloud Beauty College in St. Cloud, Minnesota. On March 24, 1962, she was united in marriage to David Mecklenburg. To this union two sons were born: Kevin Lloyd and Loren Lee. The couple made their home in Swan Lake Township, where they farmed and Marjorie worked part-time for 15 years at McRoberts Super Market. She then began working for Ace Hardware, where she retired after 15 years.
She enjoyed farming, working with family, music and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.
Marjorie lost her battle to cancer on Monday, July 11, 2011 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, Minnesota. She lived to reach the age of 68 years.
She is survived by her husband: David Mecklenburg of Morris; two sons: Kevin (Jenny) Mecklenburg of Morris and Loren (Kaylene) Mecklenburg of Morris; two grandsons: Kent and Justin Mecklenburg of Morris; two granddaughters: Ashley and Megan Mecklenburg of Morris; her mother: Louise Koehntop of Morris; one brother: Phillip (Sandy) Koehntop of Hoffman; sister-in-law: Donna Mecklenburg of Fergus Falls and three nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her father: Walter Koehntop.
Anita Cox will serve as organist for the service with the Ladies Church Choir providing special music. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
