Funeral services for Mary Dripps of Morris, MN will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris, with Father Todd Schneider officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 and a rosary to follow at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in St. Theresia's Cemetery in Donnelly.
Mary Margaret Olsen, daughter of Harry and Mary (Winkels) Olsen, was born April 10, 1933 in Donnelly, Minnesota, where she grew up and was baptized at St. Theresia's Catholic Church by Father Matthew Butella and later confirmed by Bishop Peter Bartholome. Mary began her schooling at Donnelly Public School District #11 thru the 8th grade. She then attended Alberta High School, graduating in 1951. Following her schooling, she worked as a clerk/typist at the Production Marketing Association in the Commodity Loan Department in Morris. On August 18, 1954, she was united in marriage to William G. Dripps at the Assumption Catholic Parsonage in Morris by Father Victor Ziegler. The couple made their home in Morris, where Mary volunteered and did the bookkeeping for Dripps Motors.
Mary was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morris, where she held many roles, including; leading rosaries for funeral visitations, serving on the parish council, member of St. Mary's School Board and was a volunteer religion teacher for confirmation preparation. She supported her husband as unofficial secretary for the Morris National Guard, typing training manuals and starching uniforms. Mary enjoyed writing, scrapbooking and going to movies. The highlight of her life was reminiscing about the Donnelly days, visiting with family, friends, her Morris neighbors and raising her five children.
She is survived by her husband: Bill Dripps of Morris; five children: Debra (Pete) Haug of St. Cloud, Joni (Dale Wincell) Donohue of Minneapolis, David (Laurie) Dripps of Mantorville, Dan (Jackie) Dripps of Morris and Anne Dripps of Waite Park; four grandchildren: Erin Haug, Rachel Haug, Nicholas Dripps and Jacob Dripps and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Harry R. Olsen and brother, Harry James "Buzz" Olsen.
