The funeral for Mary Adeline Jipson, of Chokio, Minnesota will be held on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Chokio, with Reverend Gloria J. Anderson officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 10 from 5 to 8 with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Burial will be in the Chokio Lutheran Cemetery, near Chokio.

Mary Adeline Overturf, daughter of Archie and Beth (Brewster) Overturf was born on May 13, 1919 at Wolfpoint, Montana. She grew up and attended school at Herman, Minnesota and graduated from Howard Lake, Minnesota, while she tended to her Grandma Brewster, while her Grandpa Brewster was away. Mary was united in marriage to Fayette Jipson on July 3, 1937 in Herman. The couple raised their family and farmed near Chokio. Through the years Mary and Fayette enjoyed ballroom and square dancing; and traveling throughout the United States and Europe. Mary also enjoyed playing cards and was an avid reader her entire life.

Mary was a member of the United Methodist Church, at Chokio. She was active in the Square Dancers Association, Bakers Homemakers Club and bible study groups. Most of all Mary loved spending time with her family.

Mary died on Friday, April 08, 2011 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris. She was 91 years old.

She is survived by her husband, Fayette, Chokio; two sons, Kenneth (Barbara) Jipson, Greenwich, NY and Michael Jipson, Chokio; four daughters, Marilyn "Micki" (Richard) Carlson, Phoenix, AZ, Mavis (Stuart) Vogelbacher, Webster City, IA, Diane (Norman) Lange, Maple Grove, MN, and Janis Kaufenberg, Chokio, MN; three sisters, Shirley (Lawrence) Henrichs, Donnelly, Beth Thompson, St. Cloud and Helen (Bill) Haffa, Mesa, AZ; nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Archie Clarence, a grandson, Bradley Wayne Carlson, and three brothers-in-law, Russell Diehl, Earl Thompson and Ralph Jipson.

Pallbearers for the funeral will be: Brent Carlson, Brenda Randazzo, Chad Vogelbacher, Kim Miles, Lori Onstad, Craig Lange, Sarah Oliver, Samantha Borman and Michelle Jipson. Audrey Erickson will be organist and Barb Wilts will be soloist for the service.
