Mary Koehl

January 27, 1925 — August 19, 2011

The funeral for Mary Katherine Koehl, of Hancock will be on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church, near Morris. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8 pm at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Apostolic Church Cemetery, Morris.

Mary Katherine Kaiser, daughter of Christ and Bertha (Stieglitz) Kaiser was born on January 27, 1925 at Morton, Illinois, where she grew up and attended school. After her schooling, she attended Browns School of Business in Morton; upon completion she worked for Dr. Maran's Dental Office as a secretary. Mary became a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in March of 1943. She was united in marriage to Jacob Fred Koehl on March 26, 1961 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Morton. The couple moved to Hancock, Minnesota, where they made their home. Mary became a resident at the West Wind Village in Morris in January of 2009.

She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. Mary enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling and visiting with people.

Mary died on Friday, August 19, 2011 at the West Wind Village in Morris. She was 86 years old.

She is survived by her husband, Jacob; one son Joe (Angie); and three grandsons, Jacob, Jared and James Koehl, all of Hancock, MN; one sister, Helen (Harry) Schmidgall, Morton, IL; two sisters-in-law, Matilda Kaiser and Bernice Kaiser both of Morton, IL; and several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and five brothers, Jesse, Emery, Warren, Roy and Wayne.
