Mary Teigen

Mary Cordelia Hendrix, daughter of Clayton and Tennie (White) Hendrix, was born May 13, 1916 in Lindale, Georgia. She attended and graduated from Cave Springs Georgia High School. She continued her education at Rome, GA Business School for two years. Following her schooling, she worked at Britton Brothers Department Store as a clerk and bookkeeper.
During World War II, Mary joined the United States Coast Guard. While in the service, she met Howard Teigen. The couple was united in marriage on March 14, 1945 at Mary's parents' home in Lindale, GA. Upon her discharge from the service, they moved to Starbuck, MN.
Mary joined Indherred Lutheran Church and became very involved in church activities, Study Club, Hospital Auxiliary and many community projects. She loved baking (SWEETS), knitting, quilting, sewing, golfing, fishing, traveling, bowling and the Minnesota Twins games. Her family was always most important to her.
Mary died on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood, MN, having lived to reach the age of 90 years.
She is survived by her three daughters: Mary Ann (Bill) Sedey of Otsego, Kathleen (Murray) Stromberg of Yelm, WA and Judith (Kelly) Kumm of Pocatello, ID; five grandchildren: Jason (Heather), Jessica, Nathan (Cheryl), Travis (Candice) and Natalie; one great-grandchild: Lauren and two step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers and one sister.
Pallbearers for the service are: Jason Sedey, Nathan Wing, Travis Kumm, Jessica Kumm, Natalie Wing, William Sedey, Murray Stromberg and Kelly Kumm. Honorary pallbearers are Dewey Teigen, Ann Lee and Donna Teigen. Amy Vanzee will serve as organist for the service. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
