Maynard Koehntop

Funeral services for Maynard Koehntop of Morris, MN will be held Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris, with Reverend Dell Sanderson officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris.

Maynard Harry Koehntop, son of Emil and Lucille (Moore) Koehntop, was born on November 6, 1935 in Stevens County, Minnesota. He began his schooling at Country School District #70 and graduated from Morris High School in 1953. Following his schooling, he began to farm with his father and brother. He was united in marriage to Bertha Koehler on December 15, 1973 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Morris. He continued to farm with his father and brother and later his son Roger began to work with them, working for over 40 years. Bertha died April 29, 2001. Maynard continued to farm with Darrel, Roger and two grandsons, Kyle and Max until the time of his death, with over 60 years of his farming career.

Maynard was a long time member of the West Central Cattleman's Association and Peace and Faith Lutheran Churches where he was baptized and confirmed. Maynard was proud to be a part of the construction of Faith Lutheran Church in Morris in 1987.

Family was very important to Maynard. He enjoyed talking to everyone, checking crops and driving the countryside. Most important Maynard loved farming.

Maynard died Sunday, September 13, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital after a short illness. He lived to reach the age of 79 years.

He is survived by one son: Roger (Bonnie) Koehntop; one daughter: Veronica Kramer; five grandchildren: Nicole (Mitch) Doering of Alexandria, Kyle (Mandi) Koehntop, Kody (Carrie) Kramer, Max (Megan) Koehntop and Ashli (Robert) Johnson all of Morris; eight great-grandchildren; one brother: Darrel (Jeanette) Koehntop of Morris and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Bertha and his parents.
