Funeral services for Melinda Evink of Hancock, MN will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Hancock, with Reverend Harrison Newhouse officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery near Hancock.
Melinda Marie Brouwer, daughter of Egbert and Trena (Meyer) Brouwer was born January 26, 1952 in Montevideo, MN. She grew up on the family farm in Clara City, MN. Melinda attended Central Minnesota Christian School in Prinsburg, MN graduating in 1970. She later went to nursing training receiving a LPN license. Melinda was united in marriage to David Evink on September 17, 1971 at Bunde Christian Reformed Church in Clara City, MN. The couple made their home in Hancock, attending the Christian Reformed Church where she became a very active member. Melinda worked as a nurse and teacher's aide at the school in Donnelly and provided childcare for families in the area. Later she was a sales clerk at City Center Drug in Morris for several years before her health required her to retire. She continued to live in Hancock until the time of her death.
Melinda had a very real faith in her Heavenly Father. This faith is what got her through her years of sickness and pain. She sincerely believed the verses of 1 Peter 1:3-12.
She enjoyed gardening, decorating the house, cooking and baking. She loved family gatherings and most of all she loved caring for her grandchildren Chase, Cole and Ava.
Melinda died Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Courage Cottage in Morris at the age of 63.
She is survived by her husband: David Evink of Hancock; son: Brent (Angela) Evink of Hancock; three grandchildren: Chase, Cole and Ava Evink of Hancock; siblings: Julius (Rosie) Brouwer of Raymond, MN, Herman (Eunice) Brouwer of Raymond, MN, Grace (Ken) Vos of Holland, MI, Ida (Roger) Sterk of Grand Rapids, MI and Del (Marcia) Brouwer of Willmar; mother-in-law: Audrey Evink of Hancock and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Ivan V. Brouwer and father-in-law: Kenneth Evink.
Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
