Michael Peter Kaplor, son of Pete and Wanda (Jensen) Kaplor, was born September 15, 1960 in Breckenridge, Minnesota. He was baptized on October 16, 1960 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Monson Township by Rev. Paul Porisch and confirmed in 1976 at Lands Lutheran Church in Hoffman by Rev. Affledt. Michael grew up in Hoffman, MN, where he attended Hoffman Schools, graduating in 1978 from Hoffman High School. He continued his education at NDSCS, where he held four degrees in Engineering and Computers. On June 19, 1982, he was united in marriage to Pamella Merritt at Lands Lutheran Church in Hoffman by Rev. Affledt. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Brooklyn Park where Michael worked for C.O.M.B. They then moved to Fairmount, ND and he worked for RoBanks and Dave Miller Farms. They then moved to Mandan, ND, where Michael worked for the State of North Dakota. Michael and Pamella moved to Starbuck, where they have made their home for the past 18 years. Michael worked at Alexandria Industries, until he retired in 2012 for medical reasons.
Mike loved his family and was just starting to learn the joys of being a grandfather to his two wonderful grandsons. Even as his health declined, Mike tried to keep as busy as he could when his health allowed. He loved fishing, gardening and wood working. Mike valued friendships; he was always willing to help anyone anytime. His greatest joys were his wife, children and grandchildren.
Mike lost his battle with his health on November 11, 2014 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood, MN. He lived to reach 54 years. Mike had a long hard battle with declining health, and with the passing of his son Micky on October 23, 2004, he tried to do his best to go on with life. Although he is gone, his memory will go on for being a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife: Pam Kaplor of Starbuck; his children: Heather Kaplor of Alexandria and Melissa (Adam) Hofland of Fargo, ND; two grandchildren: Owen and Ian Hofland and his mother: Wanda Kaplor of Hoffman. He was preceded in death by his son: Michael "Micky" Kaplor; his father: his grandparents: Peter and Marie Kaplor and Bill and Minnie Jensen; baby brother Kaplor and in-law: Joan Merritt and Jim Merritt.
