Memorial services for Dr. Michael R. Busian of Morris, MN will be held Monday, May 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Fr. Todd Schneider will be officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Dr. Busian, son of Frederick W. and Bernelda W. Busian, was born September 3, 1946. After the death of his father, he, his mother and his sister left the family farm and moved to Chatfield, MN, where he grew up. Mike attended Chosen Valley High School in Chatfield, graduating in 1964, and he obtained his bachelor's degree from Luther College in Decorah, IA in 1968. After his undergraduate studies, he studied biochemistry at the University of Minnesota, followed by attending the University of Minnesota Medical School and graduating in 1974. On October 12, 1974, he was married to Cynthia "Cyndi" A. Strub. In September 1975, following his medical internship at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, he and Cyndi moved to Morris where Mike began his medical practice and they started their family. Dr. Busian continued to practice medicine and care for his patients in the Morris area up until his passing.
Mike served the community of Morris, and the surrounding area, in many ways and was involved in the community in many respects. He served as the Medical Director of the Stevens County Ambulance Service and as the Coroner for Stevens County for many years. He enjoyed his family and friends, his pets, taking care of people, his community, woodworking, home improvement projects, his trees and plants, nature, and photography.
Mike died on Sunday, April 27, 2014, surrounded by and near to family and friends, having lived to the age of 67 years.
He is survived by his wife: Cynthia "Cyndi" A. Busian of Morris; one son: Timothy F. Busian of Rochester, MN; one daughter: Laura Jo Busian of St. Paul, MN; one sister: Alice (Salvador) Hidalgo of Rochester; three brothers-in-law: Josh (Donna) Strub of Bloomington, MN, Jeff (Kellie) Strub of Rockford, MN, and Greg Strub of Apple Valley, MN, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
