Michael Traphagan

Michael Jon Traphagan was born on July 18, 1979 in Tacoma, Washington. He was the cherished son of Gladys and Albert Traphagan. Michael resided in Kimball, Minnesota the last four years of life.
The following is a poem written by Matt Traphagan: A blessing Michael came into our lives on July 18, 1979 blessed with eternal youth and a blessing to all those who knew him. Expected to live a mere six months, however, Michael with his indomitable will had made other plans. Living a full life of 28 years instead. 28 years filled with happiness, music, love and possible his favorite, car rides. Michael never once begrudged his fate. Instead deserving of his name, "one that is like God." Michael did not see what he did not have. But loving what he had, a loving family and a warm home. Standing here today, I remember everything Michael has been, a loving son, a playmate, a day trip lover, an alarm clock, a brother and above all a joy. Standing here I am also forced to remember that death is not the period at the end of a life, but rather a comma. The rest of ones tale is left to those left behind. It is up to us to finish Michael's tale of cherishing and persevering what Michael blessed us with. That we, as Michael so brilliantly displayed, are more then a crude and fragile shell. That hidden beneath this short existence there is an eternal one which illuminates all we do. I can almost hear him say as he takes his car ride around heaven with his radio on. "Ah" just a little longer, you guys will have to wait." So this is not a goodbye, nor a fair well. This is a, "until your car rolls around again." Until then, my dear, until then.
Michael died on Monday, November 5, 2007 at Centra Care in St. Cloud, Minnesota, having lived to reach the age of 28 years.
He is survived by his mother: Gladys of Kimball and other family members: Fran of Minneapolis, Leatha, Wade, Grant, Brent, Ashley, Natalie and Shaylee of Sheridan, WY, Gary and Patti of Eau Claire, WI, Jan of Kimball, Mark of Menomonie, WI, Matt of Kimball, Lori of Eden Prairie, Brenda and Serena of Puyallup, WA, Kari, Mike and Adam Spiess of Chaska and numerous relative and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert and brother, Rick.
Pallbearers for the service are Mark Traphagan, Matt Traphagan, Brenda Traphagan, Mike Spiess and Gary Traphagan. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
