Mildred Overturf

Mildred Perkins, daughter of Orville and Maude (Clark) Perkins, was born November 25, 1918 in Swan Lake Township in Stevens County, Minnesota, where she grew up. She attended grade school at School District #39 and graduated from Morris High School in 1935. She continued her education at Paul?s Beauty School in Minneapolis, where she graduated. Mildred worked in beauty shops in Minneapolis, Morris and Herman. On January 24, 1942, she was united in marriage to Curtis Overturf in Morris, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Morris until 1949, when they moved to Bloomington, where Mildred was bookkeeper for Curtis?s decorating business. While living in Bloomington, Mildred was a Cub Scout Den mother, a room mother at Cedar Crest Grade School and was P.T.A treasurer. Mildred and Curtis returned to Morris in 1974. Curtis died on March 15, 1975 and Mildred has continued to make her home in Morris.

Mildred was a member of Federated Church in Morris, the Corinthian Chapter #77 order of the Eastern Star and the VFW Auxiliary Post #5039. Some of Mildred?s hobbies included: travel, gardening and most of all playing cards. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Mildred died on Thursday, May 26, 2005 at the West Wind Village in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 86 years.

She is survived by two sons: Glenn (Peg) Overturf of Victoria and Robert (Debbie) Overturf of Clearlake, CA; grandchildren: Allen (Diane) Overturf of Maple Plain, Jennifer (Thomas) Macucci of Rochester, NY and Lisa Overturf of Bloomington; six great-grandchildren and two brothers: Harold (Florence) Perkins of Long Beach, CA and Clarence (Elaine) Perkins of Santa Barbara, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband: Curtis; one son: James Overturf; her parents: Orville and Maude and two brothers: Leonard and Thomas Perkins.
