A public funeral service will be held for Minnie Benson on Friday, October 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Morris. A visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m.

While maintaining social distancing guidelines, we are now able to accommodate gatherings of up to 250 people. The use of face masks by attendees is required, and we will continue taking the necessary steps to keep our facility clean. For those who prefer or require continued precautions, webcasting and/or livestreaming is available in most situations.
Minnie Marie Goll was born on June 5, 1926, to John and Bertha (Spohr) Goll Sr. Minnie grew up in Hancock, MN, and graduated from Hancock High School in 1944. She attended St. Gabriel’s School of Nursing and graduated with her Registered Nursing degree in 1947. Minnie married Dwain D. Benson on September 24, 1947; they had three children: Gary, LuAnn, and Randy.
Minnie enjoyed her nursing career. She worked for many years at the Stevens County Memorial Hospital. She loved her patients and co-workers. She truly enjoyed her family and the celebrations. Making coffee and inviting friends, neighbors, and/or relatives over for a visit was a daily routine.
Minnie was baptized on August 28, 1951 at the Congregational Church in Hancock, was a member of Federated Church for over 40 years, and became a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in 2010. She was a volunteer coordinator for the Stevens County Food Shelf, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the VFW Auxiliary, and the American Legion.
Minnie passed away on October 10, 2020.
She is survived by her son Gary (Gail) Benson; daughter LuAnn (Thomas L.) Kaeter; sisters: Libbie Ann Moser and Allene (Neil) Handorff; sister-in-laws, Edna Goll and Helen Goll; grandchildren: Eric (Gretchen) Benson, Heather (Jared) Hawkinson, Sara (Mike) Fitzgerald, and Michael Kaeter; six great-grandchildren: Elijah Benson, Sydney Benson, Sawyer Hawkinson, Bennett Hawkinson, Judd Hawkinson, Caden Fitzgerald, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Bertha (Spohr) Goll Sr.; her husband Dwain D. Benson, son Randall J.; brothers: John Goll Jr. and Howard Goll; sister and brother-in-law: Lila and Ray Watson; brother-in-law Gene Moser; nephew Aaron Goll, and great-nephew Noah Solvie.
