Muriel Evelyn Lorraine (Kjera) Aslagson was born June 22, 1926 in New Prairie Township, daughter of John and Sophie Kjera. Muriel was baptized July 25, 1926, and Rev. G.O. Forde confirmed her April 6, 1941. After completing her elementary education in School District 74 and High School in Starbuck, she worked for Our Own Hardware in Starbuck for nine years. On June 18, 1954, Muriel married Sidney Aslagson, officiated by the Rev. G.O. Forde at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Starbuck, MN. The couple made their home on a farm west of Starbuck. Muriel was a wife, mother, and homemaker on the farm for many years until the passing of her husband, Sidney, in 1980. She then moved into town and worked for the Red Owl Store, Starbuck Electric, and the Starbuck Variety Store until her retirement.
Muriel is survived by her sons: Timothy (Cathy) Aslagson (Starbuck), Phillip Aslagson (Starbuck), Grandchildren: Andy (Kate) Aslagson (Starbuck), Samantha Aslagson (Dan Giacomini, Fiance) (Grand Forks, ND), Jesse Aslagson (Starbuck), Adam & Danica Goodman (Little Falls), Great-Grandchildren: Matthew & Eli Aslagson (Andy & Kate), Madden & David Goodman (Adam & Danica), Sisters: Jeannette Bollum (Richfield), Carolyn Pederson (Benson), and Eunice Sylvester (Bloomington), and many nieces and nephews.
Muriel was preceded in death by an infant son, her husband Sidney Aslagson, her parents John and Sophie Kjera, brothers: Alfred Kjera, Roy Kjera, Melvin Kjera, Walter Kjera, Iver Kjera, Ralph Kjera, sisters: Margaret (Kjera) Hobbs, Leona (Kjera) Levin, Valborg Kjera, and Elaine Kjera and two siblings in infancy: Loren and Valborg
