Memorial services for Nancy Lyman will be on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Morris Community Church in Morris. Pastor Pat Franey will be officiating.
Nancy Kay Nelson was born on November 8, 1948 in Franklin County, Kentucky to Louis and Betty (Graham) Nelson. She was raised in Mound, Minnesota. Nancy was baptized and confirmed at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Mound. She also attended Sunday school, vacation bible school and catechism there. Nancy received her education in the Mound School District, graduating with the class of 1967. Following her schooling, she worked as a dental hygienist. She later met and married Douglas Clark. They made their home in Robbinsdale before moving to Alexandria, MN. To this union, two children were born. Nancy stayed home to raise her children and also watched other children in her home. Several years later, Nancy attended Alexandria Technical College where she received her Licensed Practical Nursing degree. She worked at Walker Methodist Health Center in Minneapolis and Parkview Court in Glenwood before moving to Cyrus, Minnesota. While in Cyrus, she ran the Cyrus Café – serving the famous lutefisk and lefse dinners! Nancy retired due to health reasons and moved to Morris to help care for her grandchildren.
In her younger years, Nancy played the Clarinet and was on her high school Drill team. She also enjoyed camping, cooking, crafting, and sewing – making her own clothes without a pattern! Nancy also enjoyed flowers and gardening, she had a marvelous green thumb and was very knowledgeable on the subject.
Nancy died on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at her home in Morris. She lived to 69 years.
Nancy is survived by her children: Amie Uphoff of Morris and Wendel (Megann Rosha) Clark of Clearwater, MN; grandchildren: Alyssa Gau of Fargo, ND, Adam Uphoff of Morris, Amber Uphoff of Morris, Lindsey Clark of St. Cloud, and Harper Clark of Clearwater; three great-grandchildren: Connor, Quinn and Ellie; sister, Joyce (Slay) Schlehuber of Missouri and one brother, Donald (Denise) Nelson of Minnetonka. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Larry Nelson and LG Nelson.
