The funeral for Neil Holdeman, of Cyrus, Minnesota will be held on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Lake Haven Mennonite Church, near Starbuck, Minnesota, with Minister Wade Jantz and Minister Jason Isaac officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church. Burial will be at the Lake Haven Cemetery, Starbuck.
Neil Robert Holdeman, son of Monroe and Emma (Kuepher) Holdeman was born on September 4, 1922 in Harrison, Michigan, where he grew up and attended school. After his schooling, he worked at a saw mill and as a farm hand for nine years. Neil was united in marriage to Deloris Holdeman on November 25, 1951 at the Meridian Congregation Mennonite Church in Hesston, Kansas. In 1955 the couple moved to Louisville, Georgia, where Neil started a dairy and cash crop farm. In 1993, the couple retired and moved to Cyrus, Minnesota, where Neil had a woodworking shop and made crafts and furniture. He would travel to many craft shows to sell his products. Deloris died in November 10, 1996. Neil married Rosalee Toews on September 28, 1997. The couple continued to live in Cyrus until the time of Neil's death.
Neil died on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at his home in Cyrus, Minnesota, having reached the age of 90.
He is survived by his wife Rosalee, Cyrus, MN; 4 children, Mary Ainsworth, Pine Mountain, GA, Bob (Barbara) Holdeman, Yaounde, Camaroon, Africa, Sharon (Keith) Koehn, Paxton, NE and Dennis (Lana) Holdeman, Sedalia, KY; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 8 sisters-in-law and 4 brothers-in-law. Neil was preceded in death by his first wife, Delores, his parents, 2 brothers, Lawrence and Paul, 2 sisters, Mabel Iutzi and Helen Holdeman, one son-in-law, Bill Ainsworth and 4 brothers-in-law.
