Nettie Reimers

Nettie Pauline Nelson, daughter of Nels and Emma (Myhre) Nelson, was born October 28, 1909 in Hancock, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at West Zion Lutheran Church. She received her schooling at country school in rural Hancock and graduated from Hancock High School. In 1931 she received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Hamline University graduating with honors. While attending Hamline, Nettie played basketball and field hockey. On June 8, 1936 she was united in marriage to Walter Reimers. From this union three children were born. After their wedding, Nettie and Walter operated the Reimers Farm south of Alberta. Nettie always had a large garden and liked to grow flowers. They moved to Morris in 1982. Nettie continued to tend her garden until a few years ago. In February, 2007, Nettie moved to the West Wind Village where she continued to live until the time of her death.





Nettie was a faithful member of West Zion Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Church of rural Alberta and Zion Lutheran Church in Morris. She enjoyed gardening, making crafts for the Zion Church bazaar, quilting and cooking. She especially enjoyed spending time with family.




Nettie died on Friday, July 18, 2008 at the West Wind Village in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 98 years.




She is survived by her husband: Walter Reimers of Morris; two sons: George (Nancy) of Burnsville and Lyle (Nancy) of Mountain Iron; one daughter Ruth (William) Pacey of Dublin Ohio; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Olaf and Henry (Gloria) and two sisters: Ella (Leon) Johnson and Sophie (Malvin) Sundheim.




Serving as pallbearers are: Darrel Nelson, Lowell Nelson, Marlyn Sundheim, Stephen Sundheim, Ronald Sundheim, and William Johnson. Dorothy Maus will serve as organist for the service with soloist Ken Beseman. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
