Nettie Wiese

Funeral services for Nettie Wiese of Hancock, MN will be held Friday, January 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Hancock, MN. Reverend Julius Miller will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.

Nettie Marie Osterman, daughter of John and Mabel (Christensen) Osterman, was born December 26, 1927, at her parent's home in Moore Township in Stevens County, Minnesota, where she was baptized and later confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hancock. Nettie grew up in rural Hancock and Swea City, Iowa. She attended school in Hancock, graduating from Hancock High School in 1945. Following graduation, Nettie worked in Minneapolis as a secretary. On September 27, 1947, she was united in marriage to Joseph Wiese in Webster, South Dakota. Following their marriage, the couple moved southwest of Hancock, where they farmed and raised their children. In 1991, Nettie and Joe retired and moved into Hancock. Joe died on March 22, 2003 and Nettie continued to live in Hancock.

Nettie was an active member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Hancock, where she served on many committees and circles. She was active with the Hancock Community, the Senior Citizens Center, the Ladies Auxiliary and various youth related groups. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, sewing, fishing and playing cards. Most of all, Nettie loved her family and friends sharing her time and talents with all.

Nettie died on Monday, January 14, 2013 at West Wind Village in Morris, MN. She lived to reach the age of 85 years.

She is survived by her children: Sandra (Delven) Pahl of Morris, Thomas (and the late Mary) Wiese of Starbuck and Susan (Lyle) Gregersen of Starbuck; seven grandchildren: Timothy (Mary) Pahl, Stacey (Rick) Guggisberg, Thomas (Nicole) Pahl, Marnie (Nick) Gugisberg, Angela (Curt) Blair, Tina Fremgord (fiancé: Jeff) and Andrew Wiese; two step-grandchildren: Stacey (Chris) Stadsvold and Jessica Schoen; 15 great-grandchildren: Alexis, Zane, Ashlyn, Elizabeth, Tanner, Clay, Xavier, Ella, Tori, John, Brady, Zachary, Kennedy, William and Austin; four step-great-grandchildren: Brandon, Bailey, Jackson and Hunter; sister: Joan (Milton) Wente of Benson; step-sister: Dorothy Krosch of Morris and step-brother: Robert Giese of Morris. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; daughter-in-law: Mary Wiese and great-granddaughters: twins, Sydney and Samantha and Tirzah Pahl.

Pallbearers for the service are: Timothy Pahl, Thomas Pahl, Andrew Wiese, Curt Blair, Rick Guggisberg and Nick Gugisberg. Honorary Pallbearers are William "Bill" and Arletta Myers, Art and Carol Durkee, Keith Durkee and Donald Opp. Phyllis Joos will serve as organist for the service with Maurine Nelson serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
