Nicholas Bolluyt

Memorial services for Nick Bolluyt of Morris, formerly of Hancock, will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Hancock Christian Reformed Church in Hancock, Minnesota. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at the Church in Hancock. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock, Minnesota.

Nick Bolluyt son of John and Sarah (Ver Steeg) Bolluyt was born on March 29, 1925 in Hodges Township near Hancock, Minnesota. He grew up on the family farm and attended Stevens County District 6 country school until the 8th grade. Following his schooling, he began working as a farmer with his father and brother Marinus. He was united in marriage to Evelyn DeJager on December 4, 1946 at the Hancock Christian Reformed Church. The family continued to live in Hancock. In 1969 the family moved to California and lived there until 1977 before returning to the Hancock Area. Nick continued farming including working on Jack Van Eps' Dairy farm for 8 years. He finished his work at the Wally Feutchenberger farm where he retired in 2013. Nick moved in to the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, Minnesota in March of 2014. He continued to live there until the time of his death.

Nick was a member of Hancock Christian Reformed Church where he served on council for six years. He enjoyed collecting John Deere tractors, fishing, gardening, playing cards and riding his John Deere lawn mower. His family will always remember how much he enjoyed cooking, especially tomato soup. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Nick died on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck. He lived to reach the age of 89 years.

He is survived by his wife: Evelyn of Morris; Children: Jerry (Rita) Bolluyt, Don (Lori) Bolluyt, Leanne (Ron) Harmsen all of Hancock, Pam (Bob Brooks) Foss of Elbow Lake, Shirley (Darrell) Uhden of Kensington and Steven Bolluyt of Redding, CA; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Bolluyt; his parents; brother, Marinus Bolluyt; and sister, Jennie Van Eps.
