Funeral services for Ora Brustuen of Morris will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Pastor Tom Radtke will be officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris.
Ora Adele Hanson, daughter of Emil and Ella (Romo) Hanson was born June 3, 1915 in Gilford, Montana. She grew up in Artichoke Township, where she was baptized in 1931 and received her schooling. On March 16, 1938, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Brustuen at Ora's parents home in Artichoke Township. Following their marriage, they continued farming in Artichoke Township for five years. At that time, they moved to the Clinton area, where they farmed for nearly 20 years. They then moved to the Ortonville area, where they continued farming for another five years, before moving to Morris in 1969. In 1994, they moved to Hancock. Gilbert died on December 14, 1998. Ora continued to live in Hancock until 2005, when she moved to Monticello to live with her daughter Lori. In 2011, she moved to Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar, Minnesota to live close to Kathy, where she continued to live until the time of her death.
Ora was a member of Federated Church in Morris. She enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting, crocheting, gardening and canning. Her greatest love was babysitting her grandchildren.
Ora died on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar, MN, having lived to reach the age of 99 years.
She is survived by her children: Michael (Sandy) Brustuen of Breezy Point, Richard Brustuen of Cyrus, Kathleen (Alvin Jr.) Nohl of Willmar and Lori (Brent) Hunt of Monticello; one sister: Elaine Kessler of West St. Paul; daughter-in-law: Gail Brustuen of Morris; sister-in-law: Dorothy Hanson of Appleton; 22 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons: Jerome and David Brustuen; great-granddaughter: Madison; her parents; one brother and two sisters.
