Funeral services for Patricia Flaten of Cyrus, MN will be held Monday, September 28, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus, with Minister Minette Stalheim Johnson officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be in St. Petri Cemetery near Cyrus.
Patricia Ann McDonnell, daughter of Daniel and Maurine (Barnhart) McDonnell, was born on March 13, 1940 in Del Rapids, South Dakota. At a young age, the family moved to Morris where she grew up and attended school, graduating from Morris High School in 1958. Following her schooling, she worked at various jobs before working at the University of Minnesota Morris. In 1981 Pat was diagnosed with Lupus which ended her working career. She continued to live in Morris after her retirement. She was united in marriage to Melloy Flaten on December 18, 1993 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus, MN. The couple made their home on a farm south of Cyrus where she continued to live until the time of her death.
Pat was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, painting ceramics, cross stitch and bowling. She especially loved spending time with friends and family.
Pat died Thursday, September 24, 2015 at her home in Cyrus surrounded by her loving family. She lived to reach the age of 75 years.
She is survived by her husband: Melloy Flaten of Cyrus; five children: Dean (Lori) Kolden of Mound, Paul Kolden of Glenwood, Jan (Doug) Wohlers of Victoria, Joe (Carol) Hennen of Audubon and Doug (Tammy) Hennen of Perham; one sister: Ellen Francisco of Fallbrook, CA; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her dog: Misty and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister: Agnes Schwebach and four brothers: Richard, John, Charles and Francis McDonnell.
