Patsey Cleo Revo, daughter of Lloyd and Ida (Medler) Revo, was born February 27, 1939 in Loraine, North Dakota, where she was baptized at the Lutheran Church on September 3, 1939. On September 26, 1945, she became the beloved step-daughter of Elmer Arneson. She was confirmed May 9, 1954 at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tolley, North Dakota. She graduated from Tolley High School on May 17, 1957. In 1960, she moved to Minnesota and worked at the Powers Department Store in Minneapolis.
On June 9, 1962, she was united in marriage to Garvin Carstens. Following their marriage the couple moved to the Morris area, where they farmed and milked cows. Pat also worked for a time at Willie’s Red Owl Grocery Store. In 1973, Pat graduated from Ritter’s School of Beauty in Fergus Falls and became a beautician. Following her schooling, she worked in several shops in the Morris and Hoffman area. Pat owned and operated a beauty shop out of her home and would travel to the houses of “her ladies” who had difficulties coming to her. She also ran the beauty shop at the Grandview Apartments in Morris.
Pat was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hoffman, where she was an officer for the LWML and taught Sunday school. She was active in her local homemakers club and was a leader for the Swan Lake 4-H Club. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, canning, crafting, crocheting, painting ceramics, watching baseball, fishing and playing games with her family and friends. She took great joy in the accomplishments of her grandchildren.
Patsey died on Sunday, February 22, 2009 at West Wind Village in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 69 years.
She is survived by her husband: Garvin Carstens; three children: Kathryn (Leland) Wersinger of Pennock, Michael (Angela) Carstens of Glenville and Victoria (Brock) Surerus of Donnelly; five grandchildren: Nathan Wersinger, Amanda and Molly Carstens and Joseph and Laura Surerus; one sister: Janice (Wilfred) Wenberg of Willmar and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, step-father and two precious babies.
Honorary pallbearers are all of Patsey’s friends and loved ones, past and present. Deborah Miles will serve as organist for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
