Pauline Smith

Funeral services for Pauline Smith of Morris, MN will be held Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Paul Erdal will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris.

Pauline Beryl Wade, daughter of Einar and Ellen (Johnson) Wade, was born April 18, 1923 in Pepperton Township in Stevens County, Minnesota. Pauline attended Country School District #69, before attending and graduating Salutatorian from Alberta High School in 1941. She continued her education at the Minneapolis School of Business, graduating in 1943 from the Secretarial Program. On January 20, 1947, she was united in marriage to Donald Smith at Peace Lutheran Church in Morris. Following their marriage, the couple moved to their farm near Morris, where they continued to farm and raise their children. In 1991, Pauline graduated with distinction from the University of Minnesota Morris as a History major, with an emphasis in Family History and Genealogy. Don died on August 10, 2008 and Pauline continued to live on the farm with her daughter Joan.

Pauline was a member of First Lutheran Church in Morris. She enjoyed dancing with her husband Don, especially the waltz and the swing dance at wedding dances. She also liked photography, genealogy, gardening, traveling, sewing and eating ice cream. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Pauline died on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the Courage Cottage in Morris, MN. She lived to reach the age of 89 years.

She is survived by her children: Nancy (Gene) Recibe of Roseville, Dick (Suzanne) Smith of Morris, Carol (Daniel) Roehl of Fergus Falls and Joan Smith (Scott Larson) of Morris; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; infant son: Robert Paul; one infant grandson; her parents; two sisters: Gladys Huebner and Lorna Brunkow and two brothers: Harlan Wade and Warren Wade.

Pallbearers for the service are: David Wade, Mark Huebner, Howard Huebner, Wayne Brunkow, Gary Brunkow and Sharon Severance. Honorary pallbearers are Pauline's grandchildren: Eric Smith, Nathan Smith, Becky Taffe and great-grandson: Kyler Dean Smith. Deb Mahoney will serve as organist for the service with Mary Huebner serving as soloist.
