Payton Larson

A public visitation for Payton Larson of Cyrus, Minnesota, will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. The memorial service for Payton will be a private family service.  Burial will be in Cyrus South Cemetery in Cyrus, Minnesota.

Payton Aaron Larson, son of Aaron Larson and Sheila Giles, was born October 6, 2003, in Morris, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus, Minnesota.  Payton grew up in rural Cyrus and attended school at Morris Area High School with the class of 2022. While in school, Payton was active on the Tiger Football Team.  Following his schooling, Payton worked as a welder at Willmar Fabrication in Benson, Minnesota.

Payton was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cyrus.  He had a passion for anything with a motor.  Dirt bikes, snowmobiles, cars and boats to name a few.  He loved being outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, or doing watersports. Payton was always up for a friendly “competitive” game or two of bean bags and would enjoy Monster energy drinks, chocolate milk and Chewy Chips Ahoy Soft Cookies whenever possible. Music was another passion of Payton’s, however, his favorite songs seemed to change almost every week.  Payton had an effortless way to put a smile on anybody’s face and quick to tell a joke or one liner! His most known one liner being, “Y’all Need Jesus!” Payton was a natural entertainer and the life of the group.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.  He will be missed dearly by all of his family, friends and the Morris community.

Payton passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022, at the age of 18, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He is survived by his parents: Aaron Larson of Herman and Sheila and Richie Giles of Cyrus; three brothers: Austin Crow, Brandon Crow and Jacob Stoffer; grandparents: John and Sandy Finke of Chokio and DeAnne Hawkinson of Chokio; aunts and uncles: Chad (Ellen) Larson of Big Lake, Jeff (Tami) Finke of Cyrus and Justin (Andrea) Finke of Duluth; cousins: Craig, Tristan, Aidan, Maddie, Joe and Grace and endless friends.  He was preceded in death by his grandpa: Mike Larson.
