Pearl Johnson

Funeral services for Pearl Johnson of Morris, MN will be held Friday, May 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Morris, with Reverend Paul Erdal officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Solem Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Kensington, MN.

Pearl Adeline Reistad, daughter of Peder and Anna Marie (Johnson) Reistad, was born July 24, 1918 in Evansville, Minnesota. She was baptized on August 25, 1918 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Evansville. Pearl grew up in Farwell/Kensington area, where she was confirmed at Farwell Lutheran Church in 1931 and graduated from Kensington High School in 1936. After high school Pearl attended Humball Business College. On January 1, 1939, she was united in marriage to Vernon Johnson at Solem Lutheran Church in rural Kensington. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Kensington where Pearl was a stay at home mom for many years. Thereafter she worked in the hometown café and the bowling alley. Pearl moved to Morris and worked at the UMM for 20 years before retiring in 1990. She received the Mary Martelle Award for her work at UMM in 1978.

Pearl was a member of WELCA, a volunteer at SC Food Shelf for 16 years, a Christis House Board member, and was also an avid reader.

Pearl died on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at West Wind Village in Morris, Minnesota. She lived to the age of 95 years.

She is survived by her five children: Donna Anderson of Lawrenceville, GA, Pat (Paul) Carbert of Morris, Carol Farris of Sun City, AZ, John (Rita) Johnson of Aurora, CO and Mary (Leon) Rasmussen of Anoka; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister: Rosella Reistad Johnson; one granddaughter: Diane Anderson; one great-grandson: Payton Carbert and two son-in-laws: Wendell Anderson and Richard Farris.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
