Funeral services for Peter Golombiecki of Morris, MN will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chokio. Father Joe Vandeberg will be officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chokio and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Chokio.
Peter Paul Golombiecki was born on June 29, 1920 at Flensburg, Minnesota, the fourth of eight children to Peter and Sophie (Peschel) Golombiecki. He was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg. He relocated to the Morris area and worked on area farms.
On January 9, 1940, he was united in marriage to Veronica Ritter at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chokio. They spent their entire life farming northeast of Chokio. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary before Veronica passed away on June 27, 1995.
Pete enjoyed farming, visiting with friends, neighbors and relatives, but especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Peter died on Friday, October 12, 2012 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 92 years.
He is survived by his five children: Dennis (Maxine) Golombiecki of Donnelly, Jim (Dorothy) Golombiecki of Fergus Falls, Ron (Julie) Golombiecki of Morris, Donna (Mike) Pettengill of Fergus Falls and Allen Golombiecki of Annandale; 14 grandchildren: Brian Golombiecki of Morris, Cindy (Jim) Knutson of Morris, Julie (Dan) Johnson of Evansville, Darin Golombiecki of St. Cloud, Marie (Scott) Murphy of Fergus Falls, Meloney (Eric) Linder of Verona, WI, Jamie (Casey) Sanders of Fergus Falls, Lester Golombiecki of Morris, Elizabeth Golombiecki of Morris, William Golombiecki of Morris, Angie (David) Henke of Glenwood, James Pettengill of Fergus Falls, Stacie Caldwell of Baton Rouge, LA and Debra Shol of Burnsville; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Leona Kedrowski of Waseca; two brothers: Jerry Golombiecki of Flensburg and Richard Golombiecki of Flensburg and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Veronica; his parents and siblings: Rose Kedrowski, Raymond Golombiecki, Joseph Golombiecki and Pauline Koval.
