Ralph Wayne “Tom” Mohr, son of Ralph and Lydia (Greiner) Mohr, was born on January 31, 1936 in Morris, Minnesota. He was confirmed on August 11, 1963 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hancock by Pastor Wilde. Tom grew up in the Morris area, where he attended and graduated from Morris High School. On June 13, 1955, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served until June 12, 1963, when he received an honorable discharge. On October 29, 1960, he was united in marriage to Elaine Westphal by Pastor R. H. Roth. The couple made their home in Hancock, where Tom worked for Clontarf Liquor Store, Cargill and Hancock Coop.
Tom was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hancock, where he served as treasurer on the church council. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Bowling League, Hancock Sportsman’s Club and Hancock Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, camping, baseball, football and basketball, where he would faithfully follow the Hancock Owls. One of his favorite past times was to tease others and loved the kids’ dogs. Playing cards and games, especially bean bags - thank you Riss, league champs three years in a row. His favorite toy was his John Deere. He loved to go out plowing with the old putt-putt – thank you Doug! He also loved going out to the farm – thank you Greiners. Tom always wanted to appear to be a big, tough grizzly bear, but was the soft hearted, caring teddy bear.
