Funeral services for Raynold Danielson of Starbuck, MN will be held Monday, January 18, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at East Zion Lutheran Church near Starbuck. Reverend Jackie Harvestine will be officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Starbuck Funeral Home and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Raynold Marvin Danielson, son of Earl and Cora (Nelson) Danielson, was born June 29, 1927 on a farm in Langhei Township near Starbuck, MN, where he grew up and attended District 22 Country School. Following his schooling, he began farming with his family and working construction with a local contractor. Ray served in the United States Army from 1950-52 stationed in Korea. After an honorable discharge, Ray returned home and continued working construction. He was united in marriage to Dolores Christianson on July 14, 1956 in Badger, MN. The couple made their home on a farm south of Starbuck, where he continued to farm until his retirement in 1989. After Ray's retirement he and Dolores traveled and spent time with family. Ray also helped his son Eric with farming. Ray continued to live on the family farm until the time of his death.
Ray was a member of East Zion Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council. He was a member of Langhei Township Board and lifetime member of the Starbuck VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing softball and watching baseball. He was able to attend a Minnesota Twins game at all three Twins stadiums in Minneapolis. Ray especially enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
Ray died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the age of 88 at Knute Nelson Care Center in Alexandria, Minnesota.
He is survived by his wife: Dolores Danielson of Starbuck; children: Corinne (Kevin) Dahl of Willmar and Eric (Mary) Danielson of Starbuck; foster daughter: Donna (Ron) Robinson of Glenwood; one brother: Delner Danielson of Woodbury; six grandchildren: Erika (Mathias Burggraff) Weisenberger of St. Cloud, Shana (Colin) Marcuson of St. Joseph, Danielle (Jonathan) Mikkelson of Willmar, Alyssa (Tim) Greve of Plymouth, Brady (Grace) Danielson of St. Joseph and Cory Danielson of Hancock; five great-grandchildren: Quinn, Lainey, Miles, Mikko and Ella and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Arnold and Edner Danielson and sisters-in-law: Madelyn, Elsie, Lenora and Janet Danielson.
