Funeral services for Richard Lubenow of Morris, MN will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hancock, with Reverend Donald Main officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris.
Richard Emil Lubenow, son of Hugo and Emily (LaGrange) Lubenow was born June 7, 1943 in Morris, Minnesota. He was baptized on December 5, 1943 at Fairfield Trinity Lutheran Church in Swift County by Reverend E. T. Meichsner and confirmed on May 19, 1957 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morris by Reverend Elton Hallauer. Dick grew up in Stevens County, attended school in Morris, graduating in 1961. He entered the United States National Guard, where he served several years. Dick was united in marriage to Judith Kill on April 26, 1969 at St. Paul's Lutheran Evangelical Church in Morris. The couple made their home and farmed south of Alberta, Minnesota. After the couple left the farm, they lived in Morris before making their home on a farm site west of Morris in 1982. Dick worked various places, including Cenex Co-op and Jerry's U-Save, as well as starting Lube's Lawn Service, doing lawn care and garden tilling.
Dick was an active member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hancock, serving on the church council and ushering. He also served many years on the Scott Township Board. Dick enjoyed visiting with everyone and making new friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Dick died on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the Courage Cottage in Morris, MN. He was 72 years old.
He is survived by his wife: Judy Lubenow of Morris; four children: Lesley Lubenow (husband: Mike Cull) of Cavalier, ND, Karen Lubenow of Morris, David (Ann) Lubenow of Helsinki, Finland and Christine (Thomas) Smith of Lincoln, NE; one granddaughter: Lucy Ann Lubenow; six siblings: H. Robert (Pammella) Lubenow of Appleton, Jean (Bruce) Bastin of Pennock, Junice Harris (significant other: Marlin Larson) of Starbuck, Bertha (Harvey) Asmus of Shell Lake, WI, Linda (Mark) Colden of Starbuck and Albert (Vicky) Lubenow of Dalbo, MN; one uncle, Derall LaGrange of Ramsey, MN and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts and uncles.
