Funeral services for Richard Reynolds of Morris, Minnesota will be held Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Dell Sanderson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery in Morris.
Richard Lyle Reynolds, son of Charles and Bessie (Holister) Reynolds, was born June 13, 1928 in Boy River, Minnesota. Dick grew up in the Donnelly area, where he also attended country school. When Dick was 12 years old he moved in with Herman and Jerda Giese to help with the farming and the chores. Dick would also help various famers in the area. In 1947, Dick enlisted in the United States Navy and in 1950, he received an honorable discharge. Following his discharge, Dick worked for the West Central Experiment Station in Morris. On June 3, 1967, he was united in marriage to Shirley Wickstrom at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Morris. The couple lived near Cyrus, where they raised their children and later moved to Morris, where Dick continued to work at the Experiment Station. Following his retirement, Dick and Shirley continued to make their home in Morris.
Dick was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Morris, The VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed country music, playing the guitar, western clothes and music memorabilia. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family.
Richard died on Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at the Courage Cottage in Morris, Minnesota, having lived to reach the age of 84 years.
He is survived by his wife: Shirley Reynolds of Morris; two daughters: Diane Miller of Atwater and Denise Reynolds of Alexandria; two brothers: Harvey Reynolds of Starbuck and Arthur Reynolds of Sioux Falls, SD; two sisters: Stella Hill of Morris and Opal Thornberg of Morris and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: LeRoy Reynolds, Melvin Reynolds and an infant brother and two sisters: Clara and infant, Loretta.
Pallbearers for the service are: Tyler Logan, Gary Dohlen, Rodney Giese, Maurice Holslin, Todd Hottovy and Daniel Osterman. Honorary pallbearers are: Clarence Giese, Harley Hanke, Betty Anderson, Dale Logan, Vicky Logan, Adam Logan, Amber Logan and all nieces and nephews. Rita Lambert will serve as organist for the service with Amber Logan serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
