The funeral for Rita Mulcahy of Morris, Minnesota will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris. Celebrant for the service will be Father Todd Schneider. Visitation will be on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home and Tuesday one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery, Morris.
Rita Mulcahy, daughter of John and Mary (Reilly) Mulcahy was born on September 24, 1943. She grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she graduated high school. Rita received a degree in journalism, before getting a degree in library sciences from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She moved to Morris, Minnesota in the early 1970's where she was the head librarian at the Morris Public Library. Rita held this position over 35 years before retiring. She continued to live in Morris until the time of her death.
Rita was a great librarian and knew her library inside and out. She could find a book by her customers just describing the story or subject. Rita thought it was always important to have a diverse book selection for kids, as it was not important what they were reading but that they were reading.
Rita died on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the Knute Nelson Care Center in Alexandria, Minnesota. She was 71 years old.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary.
