Robert Carr

The memorial service for Robert J. Carr, of Morris, Minnesota will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Federated Church in Morris, with Pastor Lauren Hauger officiating. Visitation will be Monday, one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at a later date at the Turtle River Township Cemetery, near Bemidji, Minnesota.

Robert James Carr, son of James R. and Edrie (Edelbach) Carr was born on March 13, 1931 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He grew up in Bemidji, Minnesota and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1949. Bob joined the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1951. He was united in marriage to Pauline Sweney on October 13, 1962, through this union two daughters were born. Bob worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Bemidji. After retiring, he worked as a carpenter and handyman. In 2001, Bob and Pauline moved to Morris, Minnesota, where they have continued to live.

Bob was a member of Federated Church. He spent much of his time reading, woodworking, bowling and gardening. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed camping. Though Bob was a mail carrier, he never met a dog he didn’t like.

Bob died on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at his home in Morris, after a battle with cancer. He was 86 years old.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Pauline, Morris; two daughters: Karen (Randy) Swanhorst, Deerwood, and Kathy (Jason) Dingman, Morris; and four grandchildren: Derek Swanhorst, Katie Swanhorst, Ryan Dingman and Emma Dingman. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard “Dick” Carr.
