The memorial service for Robert Keith Hoffart, of Morris will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, with Interim Pastor Chris Richards officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be at Summit Cemetery, Morris.
Robert Keith Hoffart, son of William and Madge (Taylor) Hoffart was born on October 9, 1924 in Plainview, Nebraska, graduating from Plainview High School. After his schooling, Keith entered the U.S. Army, serving his country during World War II. After being honorably discharged in 1946, Keith returned to Nebraska and began working in the grain elevator business. He was united in marriage to Loretta Joyce Werner on June 4, 1950 in Meadow Grove, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Nebraska and South Dakota before moving to Morris, Minnesota, in 1972, where Keith managed the Harvest States Elevator in Morris. After his retirement, he enjoyed working with his son-in-law and driving for local car dealers.
Keith was a member of First Lutheran Church. He was a member of the American Legion and Morris V.F.W. Post 5039, serving as quartermaster for several years. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, but most of all was a Nebraska Cornhusker Fan! Keith will be remembered as a humble, kind and gentle man. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Keith died on Friday, August 21, 2015 at the Courage Cottage in Morris. He was 90 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, Morris; three children, Debra (Dennis) Millard, Lake Preston, SD, Douglas (Mary) Hoffart, Starbuck, MN and Darla (Tim) Loher, Morris; three brothers, Bill Hoffart, Plainveiw, NE, Dean (Doris) Hoffart, Norfolk, NE and Jerry (Shirley) Hoffart, Osmond, NE; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister and two grandsons.
In Lieu of flowers the family prefers donations given to the Courage Cottage or Knute Nelson Hospice Care.
