Robert Lauinger

Robert Joseph Lauinger, son of Leo and Florence (Voeller) Lauinger, was born December 3, 1951 in Rugby, North Dakota. He was baptized in January, 1952 in Esmond, North Dakota by Father Vincent and was confirmed in Clontarf, Minnesota. Bob grew up in Hancock and began his schooling at Hancock Elementary School and later graduated from Hancock High School. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota, Morris for one year. On July 10, 1970, he was united in marriage to Lorna Fay Lafrenz at the Assumption Catholic Church in Morris, MN. Following their marriage the couple made their home in Minnesota, where Bob farmed and was also a carpet layer, installing carpets throughout the Midwest also residing in South Dakota and Wyoming.
Bob was an active Catholic lay minister along with assisting in many youth and adult faith formation activities. He was also a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing and participating in community service activities. He was a loving husband and very dedicated to his children and grandchildren. Prayer was an important part of Bob's life. Bob touched the lives of countless individuals, young and old.
Bob died on Monday, April 28, 2008 at Glacial Ridge Health System in Glenwood, MN, after battling a long illness. He miraculously lived to reach the age of 56 years, enjoying many blessings along the way.
He is survived by his wife: Lorna Lauinger of Starbuck; five children: Curt Lauinger (Daniele Dosch) of Rapid City, SD, Jim (Ann) Lauinger of St. Cloud, MN, Janet Lauinger (Rick Porter) of Carencro, LA, Cathy Lauinger (Carlin Robinson) of Dubuque, IA and Tom Lauinger of Starbuck; five grandchildren; his parents: Leo and Florence Lauinger of Hancock, MN; two brothers: Dwight (Margaret) Lauinger of Hutchinson, MN and Chris Lauinger (Jill Tjaden) of Hancock, MN and one sister: Florence (Darold) Swank of Pierre, SD. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and one nephew: Brian Swank.
Pallbearers for the service are: Daryl Barsness, Jim Behm, Bob Ericson, Jim Lanie, Larry Ostlund and Randy Streifel. Honorary pallbearers are: Dirk Dosch, Emmanuel Dosch, Hope Dosch, Isabella Lauinger, Jacob Lauinger and all those who prayed with Bob. Della Conroy will serve as organist for the service with Luan Johnsrud serving as soloist. Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
There will also be a Memorial Service on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hot Springs, South Dakota
