Robert August Lemke, age 72, passed away in Morris, MN on Saturday, May 12, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife Mie Lemke and is survived by his son Lory Lemke of Morris, MN and his wife Pieranna Garavaso, and grandsons David Lemke, and Stefan Lemke, and two sisters Donna Holcomb of Mason City (and her husband Roger Holcomb and nieces Anita Stilwell, of North Hudson, WI - with her family Steve Stilwell and daughter Stefanie Stilwell and son Zachary Stilwell - and Nancy Lind of Cedar Falls, IA - with her family Steve Lind and son Tyler Lind and daughter Brittany Lind) and Maureen Silveri of Woodland Hills, CA (and her husband Art Silveri and nephews Mike Silveri - and his family Peggy Silveri and sons Travis and Dustin Silveri - and Steve Silveri and niece Vanessa Silveri.)
Robert was born on Halloween day October, 31 1934 in Adrian, MN and lived with his family on a farm in Nobles County, MN. He began school in district 92 before moving with his family to the Fairmont area where he graduated from Fairmont High School in 1952. He enlisted in the Air Force in the spring of 1953 and was stationed at Lackland AFB in Texas and Chunute AFB in Illinois before serving in Japan and Korea until 1957. He married Mie Ando of Tokyo, Japan on July 11, 1955. He returned to Blue Earth, MN after the war and worked with Schwann's Ice Cream before moving to Council Bluffs, IA where he was employed with Wilson Concrete. In 1965, he moved to Tifton, GA to begin a chinchilla raising business. After selling this operation, in 1975, he moved to Omaha, NE to begin a steel building and siding sales company where he worked until his retirement in 1999. After the death of his wife in 2001, he moved to Morris, MN where he resided until his death.
