Rollin Pullis

The funeral for Rollin H. Pullis, of Chokio, Minnesota will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home at Morris, with Reverend Elmer Cox officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the Pedersen Funeral Home.

Rollin Harrison Pullis, son of Charles and Ida (Lundgren) Pullis was born on November 20, 1919 in Akron Township, in Big Stone County, Minnesota. He graduated from Graceville High School at Graceville, Minnesota in 1939. After his schooling, Rollie began working as a bookkeeper for the Graceville Lumberyard. Rollie then served our country in WWII as a Tech Sergeant in the 772nd Tank Destroyer Battalion of the United States Army from March, 1942 to October, 1945. He was united in marriage to Eleanor Ronnie on September 2, 1948 at the United Methodist Church in Clinton, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Chokio, where Rollie worked for Olson Auto as a salesman and parts man. In 1960, after a fire at Olson Auto, Rollie worked for Berger Chevrolet in Herman and Morris; and later with Heartland Motors in Morris. Rollie retired in 1987, and continued to live in Chokio, before becoming a resident at the Fergus Falls Veteran's Home at Fergus Falls, Minnesota in December of 2011.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Chokio. Rollie was also a lifetime member of the American Legion in Chokio and V.F.W. Club in Morris. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards, dancing, shooting pool, reading and writing letters to family and friends. He loved to play the accordion and harmonica. Rollie will be remembered for his sense of humor, telling a great joke, and very detailed in his work. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved spending time with people.

Rollin died on Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Veteran's Home in Fergus Falls. He was 92 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor, Chokio, MN; one son, Larry Pullis, New Hope, MN; five daughters, Dee (Bill) Weitgenant, Rushmore, MN, Cindy (Don) Ogilvie, Motley, MN, Judy (Jerry) Roberts, Anoka, MN, Carol (Greg) Kielb, Brooklyn Park, MN and Melissa (Dan) Peterson, Eagle River, AK, twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Rollin was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Eugene.

Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
