Funeral services for Romelle Mae Neitzel of Morris will be held on Monday March 14, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church at Morris, with Reverend Dell Sanderson officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris from 5 to 7 with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Summit Cemetery, Morris.
Romelle Mae Neitzel, daughter of Herman and Erna (Thieman) Neitzel was born on May 9, 1940 in Darnen Township in Stevens County Minnesota. She attended school in Morris graduating in 1958. Romelle then attended St. Cloud State University at St. Cloud, Minnesota earning her bachelor's degree in Education. She then taught elementary grades in Anoka, Minnesota and Great Falls, Montana. She then moved to Coon Rapids, Minnesota and taught at North Park Public School in Columbia Heights, Minnesota, until her retirement in 1997. In 1998 she began spending her winter months in Arizona with her sister Lorraine. In 1999, Romelle moved to Morris and lived with Lorraine, and the two continued to spend winter months in Mesa, Arizona. In the summer months, Romelle enjoyed going to Lake Norway near New London, Minnesota and spending time with her sister Virginia and her family. She will be remembered as a loving and dependable person. She enjoyed traveling, camping and photography, and loved to collect antiques.
Romelle died on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris. She was 70 years old.
She is survived by two sisters, Lorraine Neitzel, Morris, MN and Virginia Holland, Appleton, MN; two nephews, James (Lottie) Holland, Appleton, MN and Jason (Jodie) Holland, Ghent, MN; one niece, Lisa Holland, Minneapolis, MN; and three great nephews, Jacob, Ascher and John.
Pallbearers for the funeral will be Henry Thieman, James Holland, Jason Holland, Karen Aslakson, Frank Kill and Gloria Kill. Rita Lambert will be organist for the service.
