Funeral services for Ronald Hottovy of Morris, MN will be held Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Father Tim Baltes will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Morris.
Ronald Raymond Hottovy, son of Raymond and Marcella (Hraban) Hottovy, was born June 2, 1950 in Seward, Nebraska. Ron was baptized on June 18, 1950 in Dwight, Nebraska by Reverend Clarence Reisdorff and confirmed on April 15, 1962 at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. He attended and graduated from Morris High School in 1969. Ron continued his education at Alexandria Technical College in the Ag Program. Following his schooling, he returned to Morris, where he farmed and raised feeder pigs with his father. In the 1970's, Ron worked as a laborer for Hancock Concrete. He later worked at the Hoffman Aseptic Packaging Company. Ron was working for Dycast Specialties Corporation in Starbuck, when he suffered a stroke and was no longer able to work. He continued to live in Morris until the time of his death.
Ron was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. He was also a member of the Sons of The American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins, the Vikings, the Gophers, and the Cougars. He also collected sports cards. He especially enjoyed family gatherings.
Ronald died on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, MN, having lived to reach the age of 60 years.
He is survived by his father: Raymond Hottovy of Morris; six siblings: Mel Hottovy of Morris, Judy(Dave) Marty of Andover, Cindy (Steve) Poppe of Morris, Jeff Hottovy of Morris, Jackie (Robert) Yehle of Coon Rapids, and Todd (Elizabeth) Hottovy of Morris and twelve nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandparents.
Pallbearers for the service are: Ted Estenson, Dave Schluter, Marv Hanson, Dave Marty, Gary Dohlen and Harlan Wente. Honorary pallbearers are all of Ron's nieces and nephews and all who called him friend. Linda Hodgson will serve as pianist for the service, with Ken Hodgson providing special music. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
