Funeral services for Ronald Raasch of New Haven, MO formerly of Morris, MN will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church in Morris, with Reverend Robert Kieffer officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 at the Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Morris.
Ronald Lee Raasch, son of Leslie "Red" and Marian (Winter) Raasch, was born August 28, 1951 in Morris, Minnesota, where he grew up and received his education, graduating from Morris High School in 1969. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota Morris, graduating in1973. On January 30, 1971, he was united in marriage with Kathryn Schultz. Ron began his YMCA career in 1973, serving as Executive Director in Racine, WI, St. Louis, MO, Boone, IA, Kendallville, IN and Fergus Falls, MN. He retired in 2012 after a 38 year career.
Ron was an active member of numerous professional organizations including: The Association of YMCA Professional Directors, Rotary Club, the United Way and many other community advisory boards. He looked forward to his trips back to Minnesota, a place he always referred to as "God's Country". Ron enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers, working in his yard and being with family, especially his six grandchildren. A lifelong sports fan, Ron enjoyed following the St. Louis Cardinals and the Minnesota Vikings.
Ron died on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the de Greeff Hospice House in St. Louis, MO. He was 63 years.
He is survived by his wife: Kathy Schultz Raasch of New Haven, MO; three children: Tracy (Bill) Lister of Chesterfield, MO, Karla Raasch of Shipshewana, IN and Erik (Nikki) Raasch of Carmel, IN; six grandchildren: Anna, Ellen and Claire Lister, Katelyn Raasch-Meyer and Brock and Remmi Raasch; siblings: Gary (Sally) Raasch of Shakopee, Dick (Connie) Raasch of Alexandria, Don (Sylvia) Raasch of New London and Sandy (Dan) Haugen of Willmar. He was preceded in death by his parents.
