Rosalie Otters, daughter of Clarence and Florence (Kent) Otters, was born July 11, 1927, in Waucoma, Iowa, where she was baptized on July 31, 1927, by Reverend William H. Gifford. Rosalie grew up in Chicago, IL, where she was confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church by Reverend Jesse E. Thorson. She graduated from William Howard Taft High School in 1945. She continued her education at Luther College in Decorah, IA, graduating in 1949 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. On July 17, 1948, she was united in marriage to Donald H. Rosholt at Edison Park Lutheran Church by Reverend A. Gordon Nasby in Chicago, IL. Following their marriage, the couple moved in Decorah, IA, and then to Canton, MN, where Rosalie taught school. Later Rosalie and Don lived in St. Paul Park and Bloomington, MN, where Rosalie was active in her churches and communities.
Rosalie and Don moved to Cyrus in 1981 and became members of Trinity Lutheran Church, where Rosalie was a WELCA officer, church council member, a voting member of the ELCA Churchwide Assembly and the ELCA SWMN Synod. She served as president of the West Central Word Alone Chapter and secretary and board member of ReClaim Resources for Lutherans. She was also a member of the study club, Sons of Norway and the Pope County Senior Citizens. Rosalie enjoyed church work, volunteering, hardanger, needlework and camping. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Rosalie died on Thursday, February 21, 2008, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN.
She is survived by her husband Donald Rosholt, Cyrus, her sister Beverly (Harold) Pearson, Hideaway, TX, daughters Donnis (Steven) Tolle, Denver, CO, Linda Rosalie (Lee) Hash, Appleton, WI, sons David Rosholt, Richfield, MN, John (Michelle) Rosholt, Montrose, MN, daughter-in-law Debra Rosholt, Reedsburg, WI, honorary son and daughter, Luther and Sarah Johnson, Donnelly, MN. She is also survived by her grandchildren Joshua Tolle, Jessica Rosalie Tolle, Kirsten Rosalie Hash, Lucas Hash, Kevin Hash, Logan Hash, Erik (Maria) Rosholt, Gretchen (Cason) Rosholt Whitehurst, Kristofer Rosholt, Jacob Rosholt, Joseph Rosholt, Isaac Rosholt and honorary granddaughter Karena Johnson,as well as great-grandchildren Nisse Rosholt, Haakon Rosholt and Treyton Whitehurst.. She was preceded in death by her son Paul Allen Rosholt; her granddaughter Molly Rosholt, her parents and her brother Allen Otters.
Pallbearers for the service are Erik Rosholt, Cason Whitehurst, Joshua Tolle, Jacob Rosholt, Kristofer Rosholt, Joseph Rosholt, Isaac Rosholt, Lucas Hash. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Hash and Logan Hash. Diane Hanse will serve as organist for the service with Kirsten Rosalie Hash serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
