Rose was born in Morris to Thomas and Mae (Hennessy) Murphy on March 14, 1914. She grew up in Morris and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1932 and took a post-graduate course in business there after completing high school. Upon completion, Rose was employed at the Stevens County Courthouse, working for the judge of probate, which she held for a number of years, until she gave her job up to "a single person, who needed the money more", in the depression years.
Rose married Harry A. Hennen, on August 6, 1935, after falling in love at a barn dance in the area. Rose and Harry had seven children. Rose spent most of her time raising her seven children and volunteering for many charitable organizations. Throughout her life she remained committed to helping people and generously contributed her time to causes she believed in, including her Mission group, Daughters of Isabella, Christian Mothers, CCD, the church funeral committee, the Villa of St Francis and bringing communion to the home bound until she was in her 90's.
Rose died on December 16, 2016 at the West Wind Village in Morris.
Rose is survived by her children: Carole Jokiel, Harry "Tony" (Phyllis) Hennen, Patricia (Greg) Farstrup, William Hennen, Marcia Hennen (Michael Roy Eder) and Susan Hennen (James Meyer). She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, and her sister-in-law Evelyn Hennen.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas & Mae Murphy, her husband, Harry Hennen, her daughter, Dorothy Hennen Barber, her granddaughter, Jacqueline Brutlag, her brothers, Dennis, Phillip, and Robert Murphy; her sisters, Josephine Cline and Kathleen Hennen; her son-in-law, Paul Jokiel and many dear brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
