Rosella Beveridge

Memorial services for Rosella Beveridge of Starbuck, MN will be held Friday, July 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck. Reverend Paul Johnson will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Fron Lutheran Cemetery near Starbuck.

Rosella Josephine Sorenson, daughter of Jens and Alma (Iverson) Sorenson, was born on December 23, 1918 in Artichoke Lake Township in Big Stone County Minnesota. She grew up and attended country school and later graduated from Appleton High School. Following her schooling, Rosella attended beautician school in St. Paul, Minnesota where she became a licensed beautician. She was united in marriage to Richard Beveridge on December 23, 1939 in Appleton, Minnesota. Through this union, three children: Richard D., Patricia and Becky were born. Richard was a United States Naval Officer and Aviator which allowed the couple to live in many different places. Following Richard's retirement, the couple made their home in Coronado, California. In 1966, the family moved to Pope County Minnesota where they built a home on Priest Point on Lake Minnewaska and later another home on North Lakeview Drive by Starbuck. Richard died July 21, 2011. Rosella remained in Starbuck as a resident of the Minnewaska Lutheran Home until the time of her death.

Rosella was a member of Fron Lutheran Church, Pope County Flyers and the Lakeside Dance Club. Rosella was an accomplished seamstress and ballroom dancer. She took being a Homemaker to a whole new level, refinishing and upholstering furniture, custom draperies and bedspreads, designing two houses' floorplans that were used to build from and many other talents all used to making a beautiful and functional home.

Rosella had lots of energy, a great sense of humor and a delight to be around. Generous, kind and loving would define her.

Rosella died on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck. She lived to be 97 years old.

She is survived by two children: BeckyRae (Royce) Beveridge-Bratten and Richard D. Beveridge all of Starbuck; four grandchildren: Anja (Tony) Carlson of Starbuck, Robin Stoltz (Mike Dinsmore) of Glenwood, Richard D. Beveridge II of Starbuck and Nicole Beveridge of Duluth; 8 great-grandchildren; one sister: Elaine Peltier of Long Lake and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one daughter: Patricia Soucie; one grandson: Scott Guthrie; three brothers and four sisters.

Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck is in charge of the arrangements.
