Funeral services for Ruth Darling Jensen of Morris, MN will be held Friday, January 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Morris. Reverend Paul Erdal will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Crystal Lake Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.

Ruth Adell Darling, daughter of Robert and Rebecca (Satter) Darling, was born June 4, 1926 in Morris, Minnesota, where she was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. Ruth grew up in Framnas Township in Stevens County and attended school in Morris, graduating from Morris High School on May 28, 1943. Following her graduation, she worked for DDS Ralph Moffat in Morris. Moving to Minneapolis by 1949, she began working for Hennepin County/Minneapolis as a secretary in the Deputy Sherriff's Department and the Welfare Department. On November 22, 1958, she was united in marriage to Merlin "Bud" Jensen at First Lutheran Church in Morris. The couple lived in Minneapolis, in the Bryn Mawr neighborhood, Bud's boyhood home, while Ruth continued a 30 year career. Merlin died in 1999 and Ruth lived in Minneapolis until the fall of 2009, when she moved to Morris, where she has lived at West Central Christian Home until the time of her death.

Ruth was a past member of Mount Olivet Church in Minneapolis and currently a renewed member of First Lutheran Church in Morris. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #238 in Robbinsdale, where she held numerous positions including Worthy Matron. She served as treasurer for the Minneapolis Employee Retirement Fund MERF from 1998 to 2003. Ruth served as an election judge for Minneapolis from 1980 to 2006. She was a volunteer with General Mills Retirement organization, the Big Brother/Big Sister program and was a member of the Stevens County Historical Society. Ruth loved to travel using her passport on multiple international adventures. She enjoyed continuing education, reading, wellness, history, politics and the blessings provided by nature including gardening, butterflies, cardinals and flowers.

Ruth died on January 1, 2013 at the Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, MN. She lived to reach the age of 86 years.

She is survived by sister: Donna (Richard) Swenson of Napa, CA; niece: Randee (Steve) Hokanson of Morris; nephews: John (Karma) Wagner of Fergus Falls, Gary (Rose) Wagner of Morris, Brad (Camille) Swenson of Grand Junction, CO, Scott (Sherri) Swenson of Lincoln, CA and David (Linda) Swenson of Abilene, TX and many great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sister: Dorothy Darling Wagner and brother-in-law: Richard Wagner.

Serving as pallbearers for the service are: Robert Hokanson, Scott Hokanson, Heidi Hartman, Greg Wagner, Mitch Wagner, Nicole Wagner, Megan Wagner, Rachel Wagner and Josh Wagner. Deb Mahoney will serve as organist for the service with Ken Hodgson serving as soloist. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements.
